This is the engine that was converted from an old special tilt piston air compressor. This is the exact same principal from a certain type of “Air Hogs” plane engine. In the opener the engine was running at 35-50 psi and the second start was around 75-80 psi. Top RPMS so far is 1700 at 110 PSI. The timing still needs some work. Solenoid Valves with a Reed Switch and a Magnet are great ways of testing air/steam engines to perfect the timing. A slide valve will eventually be needed as the solenoid valve is rated at 100000 – 1000000 cycles. This engine would wear it out in a day. The flywheel is wafer board (simple easy but not balanced or perfected). Not shown, top voltage from a permanent magnet motor (tread mill) 21 volts, top load 75 watts. The belt started slipping and the timing was hard to get back to perfect for the load. This engine will run 4 minutes on a full 10 gallon tank of air. The last minute is slow around 500 rpms to 50 rpms.
Our clubs Tangye diesel being started on a live day. Restored in 1993, originally used to power an air compressor in a limestone quarry. Filmed at Whangarei Stationary Engine Club, Heritage Park Whangarei, NZ. more details soon…
This is an update on the progress of the Stirling Engine created from a standard air compressor. This hot air engine should finally get some power. The piston rings were removed as the machining of the pistons was very good. There is still good compression. The ring removal decreases friction dramatically and will allow for a good cycle. The Displacer is a Bikini Spray can that I got to fit perfectly. At the end is the ghost of Robert Stirling. Just kidding, think I have been working too hard.
I plan on calling the doctors office after they open up this morning, but I did not know if I could tell them that it is not working right. He has the Nebulizador Familiar A Piston / Piston Compressor Nebulizer / Model 3050/3040. The trouble shooting section mentions that there should be an aerosol that comes out of the nebulizer, but nothing but air comes out. No mist, steam, anything like that. Is it broken or what. It is new.
I have a industrial air compressor for general home use etc. It is a 2.5hp, only 6 months old.
It was 00 when i bought it brand new. My question is to air compressors have pistons and how do they work and if they do have pistons what do they do. my other question is if air compressors have pistons. do they look like car ones and have a crankshaft etc
I had a used Lenox central heat and air conditioning installed in my home a few months ago. When it’s working it cools down my 1200 sq. ft. home great. The problem I’m having is when I leave my unit on for a long period of time it stops cooling my house down, When I shut it off for about a 1/2 hour then turn it on again the compressor will kick in then it will start cooling my home again. Could this be an over charge? The installers installed a TXV Valve because the original piston wasn’t available. Any Help would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou! DSmith
Kclifer, Thankyou for your answer, I will look into a pressure switch. I also forgot to mention, sometimes I can hose the condenser down with cool water after a minute or so the compressor will kick on? That baffles me as well:)
Hey Guys..Thanks for the response. I will certainly have the unit serviced for sure! I have a few more questions if you could help me out. I’m not sure if a HARD START was installed with the TXV, what would I look for? And are they expensive to install? And, If there was an over charge is it a pretty simple process to remove some of the R-22 coolant to a normal level? I will have to get another Heating and Cooling Company to service my unit, the original installers are not very helpful and will not respond to my issues.:(
I have a 7.5 hp compressor and I’m just about to buy an air regulator, filer, and oiler. I use a lot of pneumatic tools that require oil but I also paint cars. Would I be able to use the same hose that has the oiler hooked up to it to paint my cars? I think the oil in the hose would get into the paint. Do I need to change hoses every time?
Hi fellas i have bought a used Craftman air compressor for my mobile auto repair van and now i need to install an inverter to run it but don’t know how many watts will start it up. I was told told starting it up and almost full tank its when uses lots of energy..
i have a durabuilt air compressor and i broke the bottom ring on the piston i jst need a new one so i dont have to buy a whole new fricken compressor sad face
