Instead of a compressor, can I use a air Tank? Because I live in an appartment and I don’t want to piss them off with the noise.

yes you can.

The compressor will still be needed to fill the Tank. Or you can have it filled for you at some town station. Keep in mind Big tanks are heavy. The tank on the video is small one ~24 liter designed for only ~8 bar storage pressure.

I’ve been planning to become more serious with airbrushing after buying a Badger Renegade R1V. It’s my first gravity-feed airbrush. Unfortunately, my neglected hobby compressor can’t generate enough pressure. There’s no shop that can fix it. Fortunately, I’ve found one Lotus brand compressor. (Appx. US$200) It’s small enough with a fair size tank. But I’ll be studying overseas in mid-2010. Is it really worth buying a semi-pro compressor for a short use?

Yes billy, i too bought a wiz air and it really is only sufficient for *some* airbrushes (not mine). After reading a lot of forums on the web, a lot of people who get into airbrushing run into the same problem – they want a small, quiet compressor and imagine it will be ‘good enough’ because they are a beginner, so they buy something like the wiz and find it really can’t do what they need it to do, to get used to airbrushing, with their airbrush. I have now ordered a 1hp machine

Hey dumass,
Most if not all regular air compressors have half inch connections. You have to get an adapter for quarter inch airbrush fittings.
So before you start raggin do yer friggen homework.

Sorry Tony,
Some dork was raggin on you about the fitting size.

sure it will be fine it just means that it can supply more air

some good tips
By superdave1384, December 29, 2009 @ 8:36 pm
Just to clear things up a little. The size fittings on most air compressors is actually ¼in npt it measures close to ½in. air brushes and their accessories usually use 1/8 in npt fittings. So if your at the hardware store looking for parts thats what youll need.
