GE Repulsion Induction Motor
This was a free air compressor that was out of a very old gas station, was bought brand new the guy said, worked faithfully for years without any serious problems, he said they just oiled the motor and changed compressor oil all the time, the tank was at least 80 gallon horizontal tank was WAY too heavy to move it all, so he was nice enough to remove compressor and motor for me, i cant believe how old this is and still working, goes to show what MADE in the USA really means, he had it running when i arrived and it was super quiet which made me want to restore and keep the unit, most any new compressors are loud and noisy. when i ran the motor i noticed it arc a lot, i removed the covers to notice it needs brushes, and so this is kinda new to me, as in where to find old motor brushes, this motor is in GREAT shape, and has tons of power compared to a smaller 1 1/2 HP motor, Enjoy 5 stars please.

Hey man i appreciate it, the brushes are worn out they dont contact the armature so that kinda arc, which i dont want that goin on too much, i figure one day i will get a tank and paint this up like somethign worth keepin, only reason why im doin that is because its older then the hills and still worked when i went to see it, it just needs a cleaning , paint and a tank. if not hey it makes a great Achore !!

Well the only thing i could see is that finding brushes for it would be something, but it has very good start up and is reversible with just a move of the brushes, it has timing marks on the back to position the brushes in the proper place for either forward or reverse, amazing motors in my mind, to think they last so long, wish they owuld make things no adays liek they did back when they mades these, its all about making money not quality so it seems.

@1944johndeerel Hey thanks for the info, nah i dont expect a lot out of it, i mean it was actually on a 80 gallon horizontal tank,. thats pretty big, i have yet to do much with the compressor as of yet but man it woul dbe nice to have super quiet air working, not like the loud buzzing like a pissed off bee in the garage, had someone want to have it for a hit or miss homemade engine, duno how that will go over….
